Business advice from Partners

Broadband

We believe access to super-fast broadband is vital to improve life for residents and it is vital for businesses growth and long term job creation in the District, that's why we are working with Derbyshire County Council to try and improve broadband services.

The Digital Derbyshire programme is looking to improve the broadband infrastructure to allow better connection speeds and is working with BT to manage the rollout of BDUK funds to support greater access to faster connectivity. Digital Derbyshire also have a postcode tracker on their website so you can find out more about your area.

Emergencies

We have business continuity management arrangements in place to help us continue to provide key services in the event of an emergency such as severe weather disruption, loss of premises or power failure.

The plan identifies critical functions and the steps that need to be taken to ensure continued service delivery. Business continuity advice for businesses can be found on the Derbyshire Prepared website.

Trading Standards

Derbyshire County Council provide this service looking to improve life for local people by supporting business, helping consumers and tackling unfair and unsafe trading practices.

Energy Efficiency for Businesses

DE-Carbonise is a collaboration between the University of Derby, Derby City and Derbyshire Councils starting in November 2019 for 3 years. Businesses will be introduced to a lead contact to discuss their needs and support them throughout the intervention via an initial scoping phone call, a visit to the business to undertake a carbon reduction audit and subsequent report. The package of support could include £1-20K grant (40% of total cost ex VAT) and Technical/Research/Business Support, where recommended.
