Burgundy Bins

The burgundy bin is for recyclable waste.

If your bin is missed for collection, then please complete the form on our Self Service portal. Please ensure only the waste permitted is placed into your burgundy bin and refer to our what can I recycle in my burgundy bin advice otherwise we may refuse to collect it. You can check when your bin collection day is and what bin is due to be emptied via our Self Service portal.

Caddy and Hessian Bags

You can now put your paper recycling directly into your burgundy bin without the need to segregate it. Therefore you will no longer need to use your caddy or hessian bag. All waste collected in the burgundy bins continues to be sent to a local Material Recovery Facility (MRF) which is able to sort all recyclable waste types and provide high quality material for reproduction.

Plastic recycling

We have improved our burgundy bin service by introducing the recycling of plastics. Plastic carrier bags and film (i.e. crisp packets, bubble wrap, plastic wrapping, film packaging, lids for grape/strawberry punnets) can now be recycled and should be placed in one plastic bag inside the burgundy bin to keep them all together.

Make sure your bin is presented, with the lid shut, at the edge of your property where it meets the pavement by 6am on your collection day. Extra recycling that won’t fit in your burgundy bin can be presented in a clearly labelled box or bag at the side of the burgundy bin on normal collection day. Large cardboard packaging may also be put at the side of your burgundy bin, but please flatten this.

Please refer to your bin calendar that was delivered to your household in November for when your collection dates are.

If, due to disability or sickness, you (or no-one else in your property) are unable to present your bin for collection, then you can apply for Assisted Bin Collections.
