Calendar A 2016-17 Calendar B 2016-17

  • Assisted Bin Collections Open or Close

We know that some people can't move their wheeled bin, perhaps due to illness or incapacity. If you can show that infirmity or disability stops you being able to move your bin to the collection point, we can provide a collection/return service for you.

We provide an assisted service for residents who due to disability or sickness are unable to present their bins for collection. If there is no-one else in your property who can present your bin for collection, then you can apply to us for assistance.

We will arrange for an officer to visit. If you meet the criteria for assisted collections, your bin will be presented and returned for you by our refuse staff. Please refer to our Waste and Recycling Collection policy (292kb) prior to requesting an assessment.

To help speed up your application, please supply supporting information such as proof of Disability Living Allowance, confirmation of infirmity/frailty by visiting care personnel or letter from your GP, Derbyshire County Council Social Care Department Registration of Disability.  An officer will contact you to arrange a home visit to discuss your application.

The Assisted Collection Service applies to your black, green and the burgundy recycling bin. Please use the contact details on the right to call us for more information or book an assessment.

  • Bin Collection Dates Open or Close

Your bin collection dates for the year 2016 - 2017 are on your refuse calendar. The district is split into North and South areas and an online copy of the calendars can be downloaded and you can view your bin collection dates via our 'bin collections' button. You can search by street or area, this does not include bank holidays and Christmas periods.

  • Black Bins Open or Close

The new recycling calendars for December 2016 - November 2017 can be downloaded here:

    Calendar A 2016-17 Calendar B 2016-17

Both Calendars include Christmas and New Year collection dates

We operate an alternate weekly waste and recycling collection service. The black bin is for every day household waste and should be used in conjunction with the green and burgundy bins, as it is important that you manage your waste and reduce what we send to landfill.

You need to make sure your bin is presented, with the lid shut, at the edge of your property where it meets the pavement by 6am on your collection day. Please note that no extra bags or boxes will be taken (unless your bin was missed by our collectors on the previous scheduled collection day). If, due to disability or sickness you, (or no-one else in your property) are unable to present your bin for collection, then you can apply for assistance.

If your bin was not emptied, please check your bin did not contain any items that it should not have, the lid was fully shut and it was put out to the edge of your property at or before 6am. If this occurs you a notification will be posted through your letter box explaining why your waste has been left and what steps you should take to rectify this. If you are still not satisfied, please complete the missed bin collection form as soon as possible so we can investigate this.

For more information on your black bin please see or FAQ here.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

    1 item = £10 2 items = £15

    5 items = £30

Items for collection should be left in an accessible place at the front of the property within the boundary, as near to the kerbside as possible. Examples of items which would not qualify for collection are as follows: Bathroom suites, kitchen units, fitted wardrobes, garden sheds, doors, bricks, rubble, concrete, radiators, fireplaces, gas or electric fitted fires, asbestos, loft insulation, water tanks, boilers, fence panels, gates, paving slabs, aerial or satellite dishes, windows, scaffolding, paint, creosote, chemicals, car parts and oil, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, car batteries, tyres, tree trunks/branches, low pressure gas cylinders.

  • Burgundy Bin Open or Close

The new recycling calendars for December 2016 - November 2017 can be downloaded here:

    Calendar A 2016-17 Calendar B 2016-17

We operate an alternate weekly waste and recycling collection service. The burgundy bin is for recyclable waste. It makes it easier for everyone to recycle and also means you can recycle plastic bottles, which in turn reduces what we send to landfill.

You need to make sure your bin is presented, with the lid shut, at the edge of your property where it meets the pavement by 6am on your collection day. Extra recycling that won’t fit in your burgundy bin can be presented in a clearly labelled box or bag at the side of the burgundy bin on normal collection day. Large cardboard packaging may also be put at the side of your burgundy bin. If, due to disability or sickness you, (or no-one else in your property) are unable to present your bin for collection, then you can apply for assistance.

    Hessian bags for recycling paper:

    • Present bags by either placing them on top of the bin lid or at the side of the bin. Please don’t include them inside the bin as there is a risk they could be tipped in the back of the vehicle.
    • When emptied, collection staff will place\trap the empty bag under the bin lid to the rear where the pinch point is greatest nearer the edges.

If your bin was not emptied, please check your bin did not contain any items that it should not have, the lid was fully shut and it was put out to the edge of your property at or before 6am. If this occurs a notification will be posted through your letter box explaining why your waste has been left and what steps you should take to rectify this.
