Fly Tipping

Fly tipping is the illegal deposit of any waste on to land that has no licence to accept waste. In simple terms, waste should remain within your boundary/garden until you are able to dispose of it legally.

If you have found fly-tipping in the District, or seen someone who has contributed to this, please report this via our Self Service portal so we can investigate and take action as soon as possible. We will remove fly tipping on public land, but fly tipping on private land is the responsibility of the landowner. We will take action against landowners who fail to clear their land of fly tipping as it is an eyesore and likely to attract and encourage further fly tipping.

It is a criminal offence to fly tip. There are various levels of penalties for fly tipping, and the maximum penalty includes a fine of up to £50,000 and/or 12 months imprisonment.
