Sheffield business fined for fly-tipping in Stainsby

A Sheffield business owner has paid a £300 fixed penalty notice for fly-tipping in Bolsover District. Black bin bags dumped next to field gate

On 10 November 2022, our officers were on a routine patrol of Hawking Lane in Stainsby when they came across black bags of rubbish in a layby along the road.

The bags contained correspondence relating to a vehicle repair bodyshop in Sheffield.

After an investigation by the officer, the business owner paid the £300 fixed penalty notice to discharge liability for failing to comply with their duty to retain waste documentation.

The owner was unable to prove where his waste had been disposed of or who it had been passed to.

Business owners must keep documentary evidence of how they dispose of their waste for a period of two-years.
