Description: A charity created to help the unfortunate child victims of the world’s worst nuclear disaster at the infamous Chernobyl power plant. The organisation is run purely voluntarily through fundraising events or public donation. The aim of the Chernobyl Children Life Line is to bring numbers of these children to our area for a convalescing break of one month, staying with volunteer host families in their homes as part of their family. The group also provides a social outlet in that we get together as a team and work together to meet our objectives and develop friendships. The group has brought over 500 children to our area for a convalescing break and has carried out and achieved many other humanitarian projects to help the children and their families

Description: Unless we are walking locally we hire the community transport bus to take us to and from the walk. Walks are 5 to 8 miles and the only stipulation is that members can walk that distance. The walks are lead by volunteers who are qualified walk leaders and have carried out safety assessments prior to the walk. Suitable footwear should be worn. Description: Rhubarb Farm is a horticultural social enterprise which provides training, placement and volunteering opportunities for vulnerable people with a wide range of needs and abilities. The Farm supports ex-offenders (including people newly out of prison, or on Probation, recovering drug and alcohol misusers, homeless people, people with physical and mental ill health, people with physical and learning disability, school students struggling at school and older people, some with dementia. The aim of the Farm is to enable people to gain confidence, motivation, skills, knowledge, and fitness, in order to change their lives for the better and become resilient. Description: A charity created to help the unfortunate child victims of the world’s worst nuclear disaster at the infamous Chernobyl power plant. Description: Meetings are normally talks/demonstrations, usually with slides/photographs., on horticultural or associated topics, with an excellent variety of speakers and subjects. We also have garden visits, an annual day trip, an annual show, an annual buffet/prize presentation evening, and an annual market stall. We are a friendly group with around sixty members.
