Accounts

We deal with millions of pounds each year that help deliver our services to you. These budgets are made up of  income we receive from grants, Council Tax, fees and charges and we carefully manage the money we spend on delivering services and paying precepts to the parish councils, county council and Police/Fire authorities.

The Statement of Accounts is an annual publication that sets out exactly what we have spent. This publication is designed to fit in with the latest regulations and guidance on the production of accounts for local authorities.

The Annual Governance Statement is summarised in the Statement of accounts each year. This is presented to the Audit Committee each June.

Regulation 16 of the Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2015

Audit of Accounts 2021/22 and 2022/23 – Notice of certification of completion of the audit

An unqualified opinion on the 2021/22 accounts was issued on 28 November 2022.

An unqualified opinion on the 2022/23 accounts was issued on 28 March 2024.

However, the Council’s auditors Mazars, have been unable to issue an audit certificate for both 2021/22 and 2022/23. This is because they have not yet completed their work on the Council’s Whole of Government Accounts for these years.

When the audit certificates are issued we will publish them on our website alongside the published financial statements.
