We have been nominated in the ‘Most Improved’ and ‘Best Performer’ Finalist Awards categories for Street Cleansing Services and Refuse Team as part of the Association for Public Service Excellence awards. Our grounds maintenance team has also been nominated in the 'Best Performer' category in the ASPE Performance Networks category.
The street cleansing team sweep and clean around 470 miles of roads every year on varying daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and quarterly frequencies and empty 665 litter and pet waste bins each week.
Our Streetscene Team also carry out approximately 2.6 million domestic black, burgundy and green bin collections every year, of which 40% of waste is either recycled or composted and our Grounds Maintenance Team, maintain 1,969,000m2 of green open space, recreation grounds, sports pitches and undertake weed treatments to highways and footways; and, not forgetting the Transport Team that maintains our 140 vehicle fleet to keep the wheels of key frontline services rolling.

They are out in all weathers either sweeping, collecting refuse bins, litter picking and emptying dog and waste bins, cutting grass, pruning trees and hedges to keep the area clean and tidy for us to enjoy.”
