We are investing £900k to provide external wall insulation (EWI) for nearly 100 of our properties.
As part of our commitment to providing a good quality, energy efficient housing stock we bid for and received £420,000 from the Green Homes Grant scheme and have match funded this.
We manage over 5,000 properties and the contract to undertake this additional set of works was awarded to Sustainable Building Services who are currently undertaking EWI works in Whitwell and Pinxton.
The Local Authority Delivery scheme will aim to raise the energy efficiency of low-income and low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rated homes and it is estimated that around 1.2 Tonne of CO2 will be saved per property, equating to approx. 99.6 Tonne a year.
Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Sandra Peake said, “This is a really key area of work for us. Everyone deserves to live in a warm home that is energy efficient that will not only help reduce our tenants fuel bills, but also improve our housing stock for the benefit of future generations.
“The grant has to be spent by December 2021 so I am delighted that we are able to ramp up our efforts to help even more residents over the next few months. We will also continue to upgrade the wall and roof insulation in our properties and will take every opportunity to tap into future funding pots.”
Tenants who are due to have this work undertaken will receive a notification letter stating when their property is due to receive the external wall insulation.
