Following the success of the inaugural Palterton Flower Pot Festival, the zany and whacky creations will return to the village this July.
The village’s residents and schoolchildren are being encouraged to create their own fantastic flowerpot sculptures that will be displayed at homes, gardens, the school, streets and countryside surrounding the hamlet.
Organised by ourselves, along with Palterton Residents Association, it is hoped that the zany celebration will bring out the creative side in young and old and also encourage people to explore their neighbourhood to see the spectacular displays.
Cabinet Member for Leisure and Tourism, Councillor David Downes said, “Last year’s festival was a huge success and the attention to detail people put into their creations was amazing. We want local residents to get involved again, use their imagination and really bring the village to life.”
The flowerpot characters will be on display for two-weeks from 12 to 25 July 2021 and a trail handbook will be available to download with details of where to find the creations.
Councillor Downes added, “Staging events like this form part of our commitment in helping parish council’s and local community groups. They help bring the local community together and provide visitors coming to the area a chance to explore parts of Bolsover District that they may not have known existed.”
The event is being supported by Palterton Residents Association and Scarcliffe Parish Council.
