Council seeks nominations for Community Awards

Do you know a person or group who has made a difference to their area during 2020? If so, they could be in line for a Community Award.

We are organising the awards for anyone that has made a significant contribution to help local communities across Bolsover District.

It could be someone who has helped a neighbour, raised funds for an organisation or who is always there for others. Or it could be a group, organisation or business which has carried out some excellent work since January 2020.

Council Chair, Councillor Tom Munro explained he wanted to celebrate and reward those who often get little recognition and support.

“Right across Bolsover District, people do extraordinary things every day and these awards are our chance to thank these people, groups and organisations who have carried out a good deed – no matter how small or large.

“They are making the lives of others in our community happier, easier and fulfilling. By spotlighting the power of doing good together, we can hopefully inspire others to organise and get active in their own communities and make a big difference to the quality of life in their local area.”

Nominations for entries will close on Monday 4 January 2021 and will be judged by a panel. Winners will receive a certificate and the Council Chair will also donate £20 to a charity of their choice.

Winners will also be put forward to the Hero of Derbyshire Awards being organised by the High Sheriff of Derbyshire.
