Green grants to help reduce carbon footprint

*Update: These grants have now closed as of March 2021*

Grants are being made available for green improvements to your home.

These measures will not only reduce carbon, which is a big damaging factor to the planet, but could also save residents hundreds of pounds a year on utility bills.

Residents of Bolsover District can apply for the government grant to make energy efficient home improvements. The grants available are for up to £10,000 and are for homeowners wanting to make their home more environmentally friendly.

To apply for the voucher certain criteria must be met and you must either:

  • own your home (including park home owners, long-leaseholders and shared ownership), or
  • be a private or social landlord.

The grants will be awarded for works such as external wall, cavity wall and underfloor insulation along with double glazing windows. The scheme is looking to fill two thirds of the cost for such a measure so cavity wall insulation fitted at a cost of £600, would cost just £200. Improvements are free to those classed as vulnerable.

The grant can also be used for the installation of low carbon heat measures such as air or ground source heat pump, solar thermal or biomass boilers.

Cabinet Member for Carbon Reduction Efficiencies Councillor Nick Clarke said, “These grants are a great opportunity for homeowners and landlords to improve their homes and help the environment. By making these changes, residents can reduce their carbon emissions and save money on their utility bills.”
