Live a healthier lifestyle with the Bolsover Wellness Scheme

Our popular Wellness Scheme is being extended to include people living outside the District.

The scheme aims to increase levels of physical activity which in turn reduce obesity, reduces the risk of stroke, CHD, Diabetes and a range of other illnesses and is currently only available to residents of the District.

But as the scheme has expanded over the years and with the addition of the new Wellness Hub at our Go! Activity leisure facility, the decision has now been taken to offer the service to anyone.

People wanting to join the programme would need to meet certain criteria such as have a long-term health problem, be inactive (do less than 150 minutes moderate intensity physical activity each week) or are disabled and the cost would be £60 for their first 12-weeks.

The scheme consists of an initial 12-week programme of activities that are tailored to meet individual people’s needs and abilities and is offered at the following locations: Go! Active leisure facility in Clowne, Welbeck Road Surgery in Bolsover and Shirebrook Leisure Centre,

Cabinet Member for Leisure, Councillor David Downes said, “Bolsover Wellness has been going for over 20-years now and we have literally helped thousands of people who have had long-term health problems and they are still active and leading a healthy lifestyle.

“We have taken the decision to open the scheme up to anyone to join as we have expanded our facilities and can now provide more classes and opportunities for people. So, I would encourage anyone who feels they need the help of our expert team to contact us today so we can get you on the road to living a better and healthier lifestyle.”
