Fantastic flowerpot sculptures are set to adorn homes, gardens and streets in Pinxton as we are staging a Flowerpot Festival in the village this September.
Residents are being asked to make their own flowerpot characters and it is hoped that the zany celebration will bring out the creative side in young and old and also encourage people to explore their neighbourhood to see the spectacular displays.
The festival comes hot on the heels of the successful Palterton Flowerpot Festival and local councillor for Pinxton, Mary Dooley said that the Council was continuing in our efforts to bring a bit of cheer back into local villages and lift community spirit.
“We want communities to start and get back to normal and what better way than a fun competition that gets a whole village celebrating together.
“We want residents to come up with fun and interesting ideas for their creations. It could be anything that celebrates the history of our village, famous celebrities, animal characters - basically anything that brightens up the village and puts a smile on people’s faces as they walk around,” said Councillor Dooley.
The flowerpot characters will be on display for two-weeks from Monday 20 September 2021 and depending upon the number of entries a trail handbook will be available to follow with details of where to find the creations.
A free workshop is due to be held on Saturday 11 September from10am-12noon at St Helen’s Church Hall, Pinxton so residents of the village can see how to make the sculptures and get involved.
