Repainting work on a fire-damaged bridge on the Alfreton Road bridge over the A38 northbound carriageway at Broadmeadows, Alfreton is due to be carried out.
The work includes not only the repainting of the bridge where it has been damaged but, while will also include testing and assessing the steel beams for any damage that may have been caused by the fire. When completed the paint will be suitable for visible inspection and any damage to the structural steel can be addressed with the results of the testing.
To minimise disruption, work will be undertaken overnight while the road is less busy. This will also ensure that the road network is as free-flowing as possible during the day for supermarket deliveries, delivery of medical supplies, healthcare staff travelling to where they are needed the most, and patients travelling to hospitals without delay.
The work is due to start in early July 2021 and is scheduled for completion by early August 2021. You can read more in the Highways England Bridge Repairs letter we have received.
