We are asking people for their views on the licensing of sex shops, sex cinemas and sexual entertainment venues across Bolsover District.
We are considering adopting legislation so we can licence these premises.
As it stands, there are no such premises within Bolsover District, but should such premises be opened, our powers to regulate them are limited to only planning and alcohol licencing.
A resolution by the Council to adopt the legislation would allow us to refuse an application for a licence if we considered the location was detrimental to the community or there was already such an establishment in the vicinity. We would also have the ability to impose conditions on any licence granted.
Before the Council considers adopting the legislation, it is seeking the views on whether residents and stakeholder groups agree that this course should be taken, and what their views are on the contents of a Sex Establishment Draft Policy.
