If you're successful at interview, you will be asked to complete a confidential medical questionnaire. This form is sent directly to our Occupational Health provider who assess any relevant health matters and any adjustments that may be need to be considered to enable you to perform the job role.
Right to work in the UK
The Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act requires the Council to check your documents to establish your eligibility to work in the UK. The Council ask all candidates to bring proof of identification and their right to work to their interview. If you are successful at interview, copies of this documentation will be kept on your personal file.
Disclosure of criminal records
Jobs which have access to children or vulnerable adults require the post holder to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. If you've anything to declare, you should inform the recruiting manager or the HR & OD Manager who will discuss this with you. A senior manager will be required to make the final decision on whether the appointment can go ahead. All cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
If you are the successful candidate for one of our jobs, you will be asked to provide details of any criminal convictions or investigations which involve you. The Council only take these into account if they are considered relevant to the job role. Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from obtaining a job at the Council. A record of the decision making process will be held on your personal file and treated in the strictest confidence.
