Leaving home is a big step for most young people and needs to be planned. There are three main things that you need to think about:

  1. What type of property will you live in?

  2. Can you afford to move?

  3. Are you ready to live on your own?

The hardest way to leave home for the first time is in a crisis or after a big arguement, of course sometimes people have to leave home for their own safety, but in most cases it is better either stay at home or to take some time to plan your move.

If you would like further advice about your housing options then please contact your local council and ask to speak to their Housing Options Team or Homelessness Prevention Team.
