Families who want to get out on their bikes more and enjoy the local countryside can do so as we are continuing our Sunday Family Bike Rides from Creswell.
The rides are held on the fourth Sunday of every month and start from the Recreation Ground Car Park, Bluebell Walk, Creswell at 10am (please arrive a little earlier to sign in and limited free car parking is available).
The next rides are scheduled for:
- Sunday 23 February 2020
- Sunday 22 March 2020
- Sunday 26 April 2020
The 13 mile (approx.) ride is generally flat and joins the Clowne Branch Line taking in some wonderful countryside views and wildlife spotting. It then heads towards Poolsbrook Country Park with a stop for refreshments (not suppled) before heading back to Creswell by the same route.
The route is mainly off road but we do have to join the Branch Line at Creswell from the main road until the trail is completed (hopefully by end of April), and then cross a road into Poolsbrook.
Cabinet Member for Leisure, Councillor Mary Dooley said, “These rides are a great way for families to exercise together, get some fresh air and enjoy our beautiful countryside. We are hoping as the weather starts to pick up more people will come and join us for these great family friendly cycle rides.”
Participants are advised to wear suitable clothing for the weather, to ensure that their bike is in good working order and to wear a correctly fitting helmet. They are also recommended to carry a puncture repair outfit and a spare inner tube and pump. There are a limited number of bikes available for free hire and these must be booked in advance.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who will be fully responsible for them at all times.
