We regularly inspect food businesses in our district to ensure they produce and sell food safely. This could be between every six-months or every three-years, depending on the type of food, the level of risk to the public and legal compliance standards. If you have encountered a food safety issue while visiting premises in the district, please get in touch so we can investigate. For issues relating to mis-selling of food or quality issues, you should contact Derbyshire County Council's Trading Standards Service.
Those businesses who sell food direct to the public are subject to the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. A food hygiene rating for food premises is established following an inspection and taking into account observations and discussions made during the visit.
