Sports

Sports development professionals, sports clubs and groups often need financial help and support to assist them reach their goals and support sports projects.

The path to sporting success can be costly, with travel expenses, facility hire costs, equipment, coaching fees and tournament entry fees all adding up.

To help with this there are a number of general funding opportunities available, such as the Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund and the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS).

SportsAid focuses on giving grants to youngsters aged 12 to 18, from 50 able-bodied and 25 disability sports.

These athletes compete in national squads and the grants, generally worth £500, help with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment. Applicants must be identified and nominated by their National Governing Bodies of Sport, based on their talent and sporting results.

Sport England also offers a number of funding programmes and is committed to the creation of a world leading community sport system. This means focusing their investment on organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.
