BLACA Case Studies
This pages highlights some of the individuals who have benefitted from the BLACA.
Before signing up to the Academy Rob had been in the building trade for 20 years. 2010 was a particularly difficult year and he was advised to stop trading. Rob decided it was an ideal opportunity to try something new and venture in a totally different direction. Keeping fit and active had always been enjoyable and a big part of his life.
After completing a CSLA course with us in October 2010, Rob applied and was accepted onto the Academy, and has never looked back!
During his time on the Academy Rob completed:
-
UK Athletics Level Coach Level 1
- Leadership in Running Fitness (LIRF) Jog Leader Qualification
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
- Football Association Basic Referee Course
- Numerous ScUK workshops
Having completed his Jog Leader qualification in January 2011 Rob, with support from our Sports Development and Jog Derbyshire, set up his own jog group in Creswell. Jog Creswell launched in April and has proved a huge success, with around 30 people attending the sessions. New members are continuing to attend and another session has been set up to cope with the demand. Without Rob's enthusiasm and dedication the group wouldn't be the success it is today.
In July 2011 Rob applied for a Casual Leisure Attendant's position at Creswell Leisure Centre and has since been offered a job. Rob is a perfect example of how the Academy can benefit individuals by giving them the skills and qualifications necessary to work in the Leisure Industry.
