School admissions
Parents have a legal right to express a preference for which school they want their child to attend.
This is not the same as being able to choose, but means that if a parent expresses a preference for a particular school and there are places available at the school then a place should be offered at that school. In law there is no automatic right to place a child in any particular school.
When applying for a school place you must apply through the council covering the area in which you live, which may not be the same as where the school is. Please visit the dedicated web pages to apply for a school place in Derbyshire.
If you have any questions after reading the guide you can contact Derbyshire County Council on 01629 537479 or email admissions@derbyshire.gov.uk
