Planning

We are the Local Planning Authority for Bolsover District and we provide the following services.

Planning Applications

The Development Control section deals with the processing of planning applications and appeals, as well as maintaining the various registers containing planning information. The enforcement team investigates reports of alleged unauthorised development, unlawful works to trees and complaints about high hedges, resolves identified breaches of planning control and encourages improvements to the environment.

Planning Policy

The Planning Policy team deals with planning policy issues, in particular the current Bolsover District Local Plan and the preparation of the Local Development Framework, a collection of documents which will eventually replace the Bolsover District Local Plan. The first Local Development Framework document being produced is the Core Strategy. The team provides policy advice to developers and residents. The section also liaises on sub-regional, strategic and transport planning issues, and promotes biodiversity and general environmental enhancement.

Heritage Conservation

The Heritage Conservation section provides specialist advice on both formal applications and informal enquiries relating to the historic environment and carries out the general management of the district's listed buildings and conservation areas. In addition, they manage applications for grant assistance under our Historic Building Grant Scheme, as well as running the Creswell Townscape Heritage Initiative, a major conservation led regeneration scheme. The Section's work prioritise and current activities are contained in our Historic Environment Scheme.
