Pavements
The maintainance of pavements, including making sure they are free from obstructions such as skips or scaffolding, in Bolsover district is mainly the responsibility of Derbyshire County Council, with a few exceptions where we are repsonsible
However, private streets are not the responsibility of either Derbyshire County Council or ourselves, unless they have been adopted. The responsibility for the maintenance of private streets lies with the street owners.
If the private street has been adopted by us, this means that we have agreed to manage the upkeep and maintenance of the street on the owner’s behalf. We will usually only adopt a private street that has been brought up to current standards.
On a private street, responsibility for maintenance lies with its owners, but you can apply to get the road adopted by the council.
