London 2012 Games

Your Olympic Torch Relay Countdown starts here...Olympic Torch Relay logo

The London 2012 Olympics starts on 27th July 2012 lasting for 17 days and is set to be one of the biggest sporting events the world has ever seen.

From the wonder of the opening ceremony to one of the 26 sports on show there will be something for everyone to enjoy. And if that wasn't enough, we are bringing the history, passion and culture of the Olympics to Bolsover District.

On 29th June 2012, the Olympic Torch will pass through Bolsover and Glapwell en route to London as specially selected Torchbearers will carry the flame along a pre-selected route. The exact street level details and times have not yet been confirmed, but we want you to note the date on your calendars and share in this piece of history with us by lining the route it will take.

You can view an animated flythrough showing some of the spectacular landmarks around the UK that the Olympic Torch will travel to on its 70-day journey next summer in this specially created video.

But that's not all - as part of the celebrations on the 29th June 2012 we will be staging our own celebratory event that will include sporting demonstrations, sports activities, arts and cultural activities and a music concert in the evening (PDF icon download our specially produced leaflet), that will also form part of a month long Bolsover District Festival.
