Libraries

Libraries

Anyone who lives, works, or studies in Derbyshire, or is visiting the county, is welcome to use our 46 branch libraries or 12 mobile libraries. We offer books, CDs, audio books, videos and DVDs for loan, and access to community information, newspapers and a wealth of local studies material. There is free internet access in every library.

Membership of the library service is free and it's easy to join.

Call into your local library or join online.

We will normally need to see a form of identification with your name and address on before we can give you a library ticket. The documents we accept as proof of identification are:

  • Driving licence
  • bank statement
  • building society book
  • Post Office savings book
  • welfare benefits book
  • pension book
  • bus pass
  • receipted bills
  • council tax demand
  • medical card.

Just take one of these documents along to your nearest library and you will be issued with a library ticket.
