Our qualified, experienced technicians can carry out a full MOT test or service on private or commercial vehicles. And because they are not in the business of fixing cars you can be sure to get an honest, unbiased test carried out to the highest standards.

A test costs £40 for cars (Class 4) and £45 for light commercial vehicles over 3,000kg (Classes 5 and 7). If your vehicle fails the test, they will re-test this free of charge if it is within 10 working days, otherwise it will cost you the test fee again.

They are a fully authorised VOSA testing station (test station number V107514). The council’s specialist mechanics ensure vehicles are inspected to the highest standards and issued with an MOT certificate (if the vehicle meets all the appropriate checks) with as little hassle as possible.

The MOT and Servicing station is open from 7am-3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7am to 3pm on Friday’s. For more information or to book an MOT please telephone 01246 593054.

The station is located at:

Riverside Depot
Mansfield Road
Doe Lea
S44 5NY

Gold Card

Gold Cards allow people to travel free on local buses throughout England (off peak). It gives them discounts at more than 1,300 shops and allows them to borrow at all Derbyshire and Derby city libraries in Derbyshire. To use it as a library card, cardholders will need to activate their membership. They can do this by handing their card to library staff who will register it as a library card.

Anyone born on or after 6 April 1955 will get their Gold Card on their 65th birthday. Check the online calculator to find out when you become eligible for a Gold Card.

Bus travel
Free bus travel applies to trips on local buses anywhere in England at off-peak times. Off-peak is after 9.30am and up to 11.00pm weekdays and at anytime weekends and bank holidays. However, free bus travel does not apply to long-distance express services (such as National Express services), special tours and excursions, nor does it apply in Wales and Scotland.

Before 9.30am weekdays all Gold cardholders will have to pay full fare on the bus. Free bus travel also applies to community transport dial-a-bus services within Derbyshire and Derby City, but this is only available to Derbyshire Residents (Gold Cardholders).

Further information on how to apply is available on the Derbyshire County Council website.
