Councillor Peters, who represents Tupton Ward, was elected Chair of the Council on Monday 9 May 2016.  Councillor Rosie Smith who represents Unstone Ward, has been elected as the Vice Chair.

he Chair attends a variety of engagements during his civic year such as formal ceremonies, awards presentations, galas, church services, opening new premises, visiting schools and local businesses, as well as hosting a number of civic functions.

Whilst in office, the Chair is given the opportunity to raise funds for a charity, Councillor Peters has chosen Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity

Weston Park Hospital is one of only a handful of specialist cancer hospitals in England and treats patients from all over South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire – a population of almost 1.8million people. Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is the only dedicated charity for the hospital and exists to support the world-class cancer research and to improve the treatment and care for people living with cancer.
