Food hazard warnings are issued as foods sometimes have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.

Below is the latest food allergy or food safety warnings that have been issued within the last couple of months:

Morrisons is recalling its fresh carrot cake due to a packaging error. Some cake boxes with a 'use by' date of 24 or 26 May 2012, contain chocolate cake. The chocolate cake contains soya, resulting in incorrect allergen information. If you’re allergic or sensitive to soya, don’t eat this product.

The product being recalled is:

  • Product: Morrisons Fresh Carrot Cake
  • Use by dates: 24 or 26 May 2012

The company has recalled all the affected carrot cake. Customer notices will be displayed in stores to explain why the carrot cake has been recalled. Morrisons has contacted the relevant allergy organisations, which will explain to their members why the product has been recalled.

No other Morrison products are known to be affected.
