Terry was first elected as a district councillor in 1983 and during this time he has had a number of roles and responsibilities from being the Chairman of the old Housing Committee and Finance Committee to more recently being a Board Director of the North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire Coalfield Alliance. These experiences, together with his background of being an Environmental Health Officer with another local authority, have helped Terry gain an in-depth knowledge of local government finance, regeneration and community safety.
