Additional information

Eion was elected as a district councillor in 1987 and served as Deputy Leader of the Council for 9 years before becoming Leader in May 2003. During this time he has served on countless committees and has gained a vast array of knowledge, particularly in personnel, best value and economic regeneration issues.

He has significant responsibility for policy and strategy and also looks after Customer Service issues. Policies and strategies provide the means by which we deliver on our ambitions. These must ensure that we continuously improve the services we delivers and maintains our focus. Responsibility for this function is given to the Leader of the Council who is also the Chair of the Executive.

This combination of roles ensures co-ordinated delivery and approach is at the heart of the decision making process, enabling us to be ambitious in what we plan to achieve by ensuring that all our resources are focused while maintaining our customer orientated approach. The role also has important consequences for our partnership working in facilitating a co-ordinated multi-agency approach to problems facing the area and our communities through the Community Strategy and the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy amongst others and our work with and as part of the Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership (BLSP).
