Residents Urged To Snap Up Insulation Offers
Residents across Bolsover District are being urged to snap up free and discounted energy measures before the offers run out at the end of the year.
Households that are in receipt of certain benefits or tax credits, and have solid walls, may be entitled to have their home externally insulated free of charge – which could save up to £8,000 for a typical 3-bed semi-detached property.
The External Wall Insulation (EWI) grants will be subject to the household being in receipt of certain benefits and a satisfactory survey being carried out.
Cabinet Member for the Environment, Councillor Dennis Kelly said, “There are a variety of companies offering these measures and we want as many people to take advantage of them as possible. By insulating your homes you could save hundreds of pounds each year and help reduce CO2 emissions.”
All solid wall properties (walls with no cavity space) are eligible for a discount to the cost of the work and in some cases it could cover the entire cost.
External wall insulation (also referred to as solid wall insulation) is a technology developed to improve the thermal performance of buildings (helping reduce CO2 emissions) by the application of insulation and a decorative weatherproof render to the external wall surfaces.
Around 45% of the heat lost in an uninsulated solid walled home is through the walls. Installing EWI can reduce heat loss, make the property more comfortable, and save around £475 per year on your heating bill.
