The festival was launched at Beans Coffee Shop Gallery in Bolsover who have a programme of courses and events happening throughout the year. The BD Festival involves Bolsover District Council, local groups, clubs and societies all coming together to provide a whole host of activities for local people and visitors to participate in and enjoy.

Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Councillor Ann Syrett said, “This is the first time we have staged a month long festival and we are really looking forward to it – just like we hope you all are.

“Obviously this year’s big event is the Olympic Torch Relay and what a way to kick off the Festival. But we also have some other excellent things going on such as music concerts and festivals, village carnivals and Derbyshire’s own traditional Well Dressings. We have tried to put on a variety of activities and events so at least there is something for everyone to enjoy and participate in and I would encourage everyone to come and join in the fun.”
