Council funding provides groundwork for regeneration schemes

We have shown our commitment to the environment and regeneration by providing a £13,900 grant to Groundwork Creswell, Ashfield and Mansfield for 2011/12.

The grant is part of our Grants to Voluntary Organisations scheme and helps the organisation lever in an additional £794,000 across a range of regeneration and training programmes.

The money will help Groundwork Creswell, Ashfield and Mansfield - a registered Charity - work with local people and communities to undertake programmes and schemes such as improving and installing new play and recreational areas, assist with housing regeneration schemes, environmental improvements and provide support to businesses and social enterprises.

In addition to the projects and schemes, the organisation helped create one hundred and twenty-seven jobs, supported fifty-nine businesses and helped one hundred and sixty-four people gain qualifications in a variety of subjects during 2010/11.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Councillor Alan Tomlinson said, "Over the past twelve months they have delivered excellent value for money and we are delighted to be able to support successful enterprises such as this. By working in partnership with them we have been able to help more people, support more schemes and help tackle problems such as disaffected youth and regenerating deprived parts of the District.”
