Bolsover Conservation Area
The 
Bolsover Conservation Area was designated on 17th July 1971 and the boundary has been extended four times in 1978, 1982, 1988 and finally in March 2009. The most recent boundary amendment was made to include additional land around New Bolsover which is historically associated with Bolsover Castle and the New Bolsover Model Village, and to delete a small area from the Conservation Area at the entrance to Houldsworth Crescent.
At present, no Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan has been prepared for the Bolsover Conservation Area.
Bolsover Conservation Area (Unlisted Buildings of Merit) Article 4 Direction
An Article 4 Direction for the Bolsover Conservation Area was confirmed by the Planning Committee on 13th October 2010 and came into force on 21st October 2010.

Bolsover Conservation Area (Castle Fields) Article 4 Direction
The Bolsover Conservation Area (Castle Fields) Article 4 Direction has been in force since the 9th April 1998 and covers the castle fields to the west of Bolsover Castle down to Villas Road and a piece of land at the junction with Station Road.
It restricts certain types of development including the erection or alteration of means of enclosure and formation of access onto highway, development involving agricultural buildings, engineering operations, statutory undertakers and National Rivers Authority.
