Green Space Strategy (2012)
We have prepared a Green Space Strategy for Bolsover District. The Strategy provides a vision and identifies priorities for how green space should be planned and managed and sets out:
- minimum quantity and quality standards for provision of green space;
- a hierarchy of formal green spaces with accessibility standards in relation to their role, function and size;
- those neighbourhoods and villages where new green space provision is a priority;
- exciting proposals for town parks to be established in each of the District’s four towns;
- presents a draft policy proposal to help inform green space policy for the new Local Plan;
- priorities for green space in each of the main settlements in the District.
The Green Space Strategy was considered at the meeting of the Council on 25th April 2012 and was approved and adopted for publication, together with the factual information contained in Green Space Audit: Quantity and Accessibility report. The Green Space Strategy was also endorsed as a material consideration in the determination of applications for planning permission.

Retail Capacity Assessment (2011)
In 2010 Bolsover District Council commissioned consultants Roger Tym and Partners to provide an updated assessment of retail needs. The study will inform future decisions about significant retail development and local planning policy. The study assesses the current role and vitality of town and local centres in the District and assesses the need for additional convenience and comparison floorspace, taking into account anticipated housing growth. The study also includes recommendations for changes to the District's town centres.

Outline Water Cycle Study (2011)
The Outline Water Cycle Study looks at the existing water supply and waste water treatment capacity. It considers proposals for growth and the impact these are likely to have, and investigates potential solutions where there are tensions between growth proposals and capacity. The study was carried out for the Council by consultants, (Entec). The consultants worked closely with the two water companies responsible for the water supply and sewage treatment in the district (Severn Trent and Yorkshire Water), and the Environment Agency to produce the study.
IMPORTANT NOTE – JUNE 2011
The Council, together with the water companies and the Environment Agency are working to address the constraints of waste water infrastructure identified in the Outline Water Cycle Study so that the Council can plan the future development of the district in a sustainable manner. To date, the Council and Yorkshire Water have worked together to clarify the level of development that can be accommodated in Bolsover town. As a result of these discussions, the two organisations are confident that the current waste water infrastructure can now accommodate likely levels of development up to 2015. Following this, Yorkshire Water will be undertaking a scheme to increase the capacity of the treatment facility at Bolsover to ensure there is sufficient capacity to 2030, based on current growth estimates.

Settlement Hierarchy Study (2009)
The Settlement Hierarchy Study assesses the role and function of settlements in Bolsover District by considering their size, form and in particular the services and facilities they provide. It also indicates the general capacity of the District's towns and main villages to accommodate new development. The audits in Appendix 3 to the Study provide information on the form and character of each settlement, identify key facilities and outline potential constraints to development. The Study makes an important contribution to the evidence base needed for the Core Strategy and subsequent Development Plan Documents under the Council’s Local Development Framework.
Following consideration by the Planning Committee, the Council at its meeting on 15 July 2009 endorsed:
- the Settlement Hierarchy set out in the Study;
- the Study as a material consideration to be taken into account in making decisions on applications for planning permission;
- the Study as a key document in the development of a spatial strategy for the local development framework.

Renewable Energy Study (2009)
The Renewable Energy and Low Carbon Study assesses the District's potential for the installation of renewable and low carbon energy technologies, suggests possible approaches for different scales and types of development, and makes recommendations on future policy directions. The study, undertaken by Camco, was considered by the Council's Planning Committee on 29 April, 2009. The study will help to inform the development of policies in the LDF for renewable and low carbon energy.

Green Infrastructure Study / Green Infrastructure Strategy (2008)
This is a study of green infrastructure in the district. It was carried out to assess the existing provision and opportunities to enhance and protect it. The "Green Infrastructure Strategy" will inform core policies in the Core Strategy Development Plan Document and the Leisure Strategy for the Bolsover district.
Economic Viability of Affordable Housing Provision (2008)

Shirebrook Sustainable Development Masterplan (2007)The Shirebrook Sustainable Development Masterplan was approved by us on 12th March 2008, following public consultation. The Masterplan is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications, however, as the Masterplan does not fully address climate change issues, the Masterplan will not be taken as a material consideration which outweighs issues of climate change, as identified in Planning Policy Statement 1. Proposals for housing development affecting Shirebrook Town Park are subject to further investigation, and will not be taken forwards without further public consultation. The Masterplan will help inform our Local Development Framework.
Strategic Housing Market Area Assessment (November 2007)A strategic Housing Market Area Assessment has been carried out by Fordham Research limited for the Northern Sub Region. This provides an assessment of the housing market across two housing market areas: the Northern (Sheffield/Rotherham) Housing Market Area, comprising the four administrative areas of Chesterfield Borough Council, North East Derbyshire District Council, Bolsover District Council and Bassetlaw District Council, and the Nottingham Outer Housing market Area, comprising Ashfield District Council Mansfield District Council and Newark & Sherwood District Council. |

The Greenprint for Bolsover District (May 2006)
A
A Greenprint Bolsover District is a greenprint for biodiversity in the district. It has been prepared by us and the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust to provide a framework for the conservation of biodiversity within Bolsover district. Its purpose is to identify the habitats and species that are present in the district but that are declining or at risk on a national or county-wide basis. The Greenprint will inform the site allocation process and be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.
Evidence Base Report (May 2005)
An Evidence Base Report has been produced which will inform the policies contained within the Local Development Framework. It contains reference to the type of data and information which will underpin and support Local Development Documents as they are produced. It has also been endorsed by the Local Strategic partnership for use in the preparation of the new Sustainable Community Strategy for Bolsover district.
