Annual Canvass 2012

The forms for the Annual Canvass of Electors, which will enable eligible residents to register on the Electoral Roll, will be sent out earlier than usual this year due to the Police and Crime Commissioners Elections to be held on 15th November 2012.

We normally collect the information we need to publish a revised register throughout August to November by sending every household in the District an electoral registration form to complete and return.   The new Register of Electors is then usually published on 1st December and stays in force for the following 12 months.

On 15th November 2012 there will be elections held for a new Police  & Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire.  To make sure that the Register of Electors is as up to date as possible and that everyone who is entitled to vote is able to, this year's annual canvass will start earlier and the new electoral register for 2013 will be published on 15th October 2012.  All households in the District will receive an electoral registration form during June and July of this year which you should complete and return to ensure you are able to vote.

Being registered to pay Council Tax does not automatically put you on the Register of Electors.  Your ability to get a mortgage, loan, credit card etc. is likely to be affected if you are not on the Register of Electors or if your entry is not up to date.
