Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them. There are over 750,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025.

Local Services

Alzheimer’s Society Derbyshire (Chesterfield Office) offer a range of support to people in the Bolsover district.

Dementia Support Service

If you have any questions, or want information and advice, please contact our Dementia Support Workers. It is usually possible to arrange a home visit if required.

Dementia Café

A Dementia Café is a social event providing access to support and information for people with dementia, their carers, family and friends. The groups are friendly and informal. They offer an opportunity to meet other people and share concerns and advice in a social setting.

A lunch group meet in Bolsover on a monthly basis, every 1st Thursday. Please call or email for more details.

Walking for the Brain

Alzheimer’s Society Derbyshire support a local walking group which has been set up by volunteer and qualified walking group leader, Steve Dilks. The group is for people with dementia and their carers and they meet regularly in the local area. For more details please view the Events Diary or call Steve on 07875 941505. It is free to attend but please call to book your place.

Newsletters

Our local newsletters contain news and articles of interest to people affected by dementia. To request that copies are sent out to you, please contact our office or read our PDF icon latest issue (December 2011) online.

You may also like to sign up to become an Alzheimer's Society member and get our monthly magazine 'Living with dementia'. Living with dementia is packed with useful information and personal stories about dementia. There is no fixed fee for annual subscriptions. If you live in the UK, are on a low income and either have dementia or are caring for a relative or friend with dementia, membership is free.
